Are We Running Out of Celebrity Runners?
The guy on the right will be running the New York City Marathon with Team McGraw to raise money for the Tug McGraw Foundation, reports the Grand Rapids Press.
But he’s not Tug’s famous country singer son, Tim. He’s Tim McGraw impersonator Lee Crites.
The Press reported that “Jeff McMahon, the keyboardist for McGraw’s band, The Dancehall Doctors, and director of Team McGraw, approached the Grand Rapids resident about six months ago after meeting him at a concert. ‘He recognized me right away,’ Crites said.”
I’m amazed that Oprah, P. Diddy and Valerie Bertinelli didn’t think of this first. I’m thinking of outsourcing my next race myself.

Benign Toomer
Former New York Giants wide receiver Amani Toomer will run the New York City Marathon for charity this November. He’ll start at the very back of the pack, and Timex will donate $1 to New York Road Runners youth programs for every person he passes.
Toomer is also out to beat the time of the last NFL player to run New York – Lynn Swann ran a 4:26 in 1993. Former San Francisco 49er running back Roger Craig is probably the best marathoner among NFL players, with a PR of 3:50.
Olympic 10k bronze medalist Shalane Flanagan will also be making her marathon debut in New York.
“I’m excited, but I’m scared of the marathon,” she said. “It’s very daunting. There’s an unknown element I can’t practice for.”

How the Chic Set Is Marathoning This Year
Why do I waste my time reading Runner’s World, when Women’s Wear Daily has the real scoop on how to properly train for a marathon?
Designer Yigal Azrouel says he eats “lots of carbs and protein, but I started off with Kathy Freston’s Quantum Wellness Cleanse.”
Executive chef Olivier Muller plans a post-race brunch with “some cheeses, charcuterie, coq au vin and short ribs,” but model Veronica Webb will settle for “a pedicure and a margarita.”
Socialite Jennifer Creel loves her “zip-front jacket from Ralph Lauren,” while “man-about-town” Euan Rellie has made some serious sacrifices: “I have not smoked a cigarette for three months. And I have generally, but not totally, avoided the Boom Boom Room.”
