If you have seen any of the Jurassic Park movies, you probably think we wouldn’t even qualify as fast food if chased by a pack of velociraptors. After all, speed is already in their names. A LiveScience article from last year states they could run up to 40 miles per hour.
But a new study from the University of Alberta claims raptors’ legs were too short to carry them at high speeds. “In fact, velociraptor, and many of the other raptor dinosaurs are the least adapted for high-speed running,” explained the author.
This led me down a rabbit hole of dinosaur research, where I discovered what velociraptors supposedly looked like in reality.
I’m pretty sure if I saw that thing bearing down on me, I could find an extra gear.
