The Blago Joggo
I thought we had completed the strange links between former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich and running when the Windy Citizen suggested his marathoning and his corruption were somehow related.
Now we have Time magazine profiling the jury in Blagojevich’s trial, with these details about Juror 119:
White female in her 30s. The mother of two daughters has worked in investment accounting for about 15 years and her spouse works in the banking industry. She’s an avid marathon runner and has given small annual donations to political organizations. Her favorite reading material is the magazine Runners World. She said she doesn’t watch the news. “I don’t have time,” she explained during jury selection. “I have two daughters, and we don’t have cable.”
I’ve been on jury duty many times and I don’t recall being asked about my running during voir dire even once. I’m baffled as to how this topic arose.
Maybe the defense is counting on reluctance to convict a fellow marathoner.

Is Illinois Governor’s Corruption Related to Running?!?
You would think there are plenty of details concerning Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich’s efforts to sell a U.S. Senate seat to occupy pundits and the media for weeks. But some people have clearly lost their minds. Take this headline from a Chicago Public Radio story:
“Governor Wears Tight Pants to Court”
Now a running blog on the Windy Citizen web site suggests Blagojevich, who is an avid runner, is an adrenaline junkie so that (somehow) running marathons and high-level political corruption have similar appeals to him.
