Benign Toomer
Former New York Giants wide receiver Amani Toomer will run the New York City Marathon for charity this November. He’ll start at the very back of the pack, and Timex will donate $1 to New York Road Runners youth programs for every person he passes.
Toomer is also out to beat the time of the last NFL player to run New York – Lynn Swann ran a 4:26 in 1993. Former San Francisco 49er running back Roger Craig is probably the best marathoner among NFL players, with a PR of 3:50.
Olympic 10k bronze medalist Shalane Flanagan will also be making her marathon debut in New York.
“I’m excited, but I’m scared of the marathon,” she said. “It’s very daunting. There’s an unknown element I can’t practice for.”

My bet is on Shalene Flanagan.
Unless of course Amani has an Eagle behind him.
What happens when those people start passing him after he hits the wall?
That’s a pretty cool idea. But to really give him some incentive to run, he should promise the charity $50,000 minus the number of runners he passes. That way, he is really trying his best to protect his checking account.
