A Mass o’ Yassos
First, I have to note that many of my fellow bloggers seem to have hit the summer doldrums. Here are a few of the blog post titles that greeted me today:
Not all of these turned out to be as bad as the headlines would indicate, but come on, people! Cheer up!
This week’s Carnival of Running melted away with the rest of my hard drive, so the carnival will return next Wednesday. In the meantime, you can enjoy my training progress (because I know you’re dying to know): 16-miler last Sunday, three 8-mile tempo runs 15 seconds per mile above goal pace, and this morning’s speedwork:
Intervals: 8 x 800 meters
Goal pace: sub-3:36
Lap 1: 3:26.55
Lap 2: 3:21.41
Lap 3: 3:23.43
Lap 4: 3:23.97
Lap 5: 3:28.91
Lap 6: 3:25.53
Lap 7: 3:26.87
Lap 8: 3:26.11
Average: 3:25.35
Total distance: 7 miles
Now back to computer file reconstruction.

Yeah, not that you need me piling on, but, The Village Idiot Goes 10 Miles this Weekend.” posted recently, too.
For me, the suckage came from the wildfire pouring over the hillside.
*wheeze*
Good luck with the machine, man.
Alright already! Time to drop the damn goal pace because you keep blowing them away.
Nice numbers. I have to agree with Joy though.
Soon I will be going to attitude readjustment camp which means I’ll probably just be coming back a more cynical broken version of myself in six weeks. Something to look forward to.
Thanks, all.
Two reasons I’m not dropping the goal pace:
1) I still have to add two more 800s.
2) If I go significantly lower than 3:36, great, but 3:36 is still the goal, based on the Yasso formula.
Anyway, assuming I’m successful, I’ll be moving up to mile repeats by the end of next month.
Totally agree with the optimism check! We need some power of positive thinking around here.
That being said, your post title sort of sounds like a gastrointestinal disorder… :)
Thanks for the reality check. Running is fun, I think.
Good job on those Yasso’s. Don’t cave to peer pressure of upping (or would that be downing?) the ante and running faster.
